Joseph Margulies
(1896-1984)
Joseph Margulies was born in Vienna, Austria in 1896. He was a painter and printmaker who was well-known for his etchings, aquatints, portraits, sea-landscapes, and watercolors. He was taught by Joseph Pennell, and studied at the Art Students League of New York, Cooper Union, the National Academy of Design, and Ecolé des Beaux Arts Paris. He was a member of the Allied Artists of America, American Artists Professional League, American Watercolor Society, Audubon Artists, North Shore Art Association, the Rockport Art Association, Salmagundi Club, Salons of America, and Society of American Etchers. His works were exhibited at Smithsonian Institution, Grand Central Art Galleries, Audubon Artists, Salons of America, and the National Academy of Design. He died in New York, New York in 1984.
