Edith Morehouse  

(1899-1979)

Edith Morehouse was born in California in 1899. She studied at Pratt Institute and traveled to France where she was first introduced to modernism. In the 1920’s she was well-known for painting celebrity portraits. She exhibited at the National Association of Women Artists, the Art League of Nassau County, the Binghampton Museum of Art, and Metropolitan Galleries. She won numerous awards from juried shows at the Art League of Nassau County. She died in 1979.
