David Gilmore Blythe

(1815-1865)

David Blythe was born in East Liverpool, Ohio in 1815. He was a painter well-known for his trompe l’oeil. His works were exhibited in the Carnegie Institute, the Pennsylvania Academy, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He had visited New Orleans, Virginia, and West Virginia, which were the subjects of some of his works. He died in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1865.
