Katherine Southwick Keeler  

(b. 1887)

Katherine Southwick Keeler also went by the name Mrs. R. Burton Keeler. She was born in Buxton, Maine in 1887 and also lived in Scarsdale, NY and Newtown, CT. She studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Institute of Chicago. She was awarded a scholarship from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1911 and 1913. She was a member of the Scarsdale Art Association and exhibited at the Salons of America in 1934. She was the author and/or illustrator of “Childrens Zoo”, 1942; “Dog Days”, 1944; “Apple Rush”, 1944, “Meadowbrook Farm Series”, 1946-49; “In the Country”, 1953, and other books for children. She is listed in “Who Was Who in American Art,” 1999 edition.
