Lily Chao (b. 1951)
Lily Chao is a Chinese artist born in 1951 who began as a child. She currently lives in Taiwan, and her work has been exhibited internationallly. Her more recent work specializes in detailed paintings of flowers and birds in the style of the Tang and Sung Dynasty. She paints on rice paper, and the pigments of the paint are made with natural herbal and flower extracts using ancient Chinese formulas, a traditional technique that has endured for hundreds of years. |
